Adolescents have unique needs. School stress, anxiety about relationships, and planning for high school and/or college causes build-up of stress and anxiety that needs support. Add in issues such as ADHD, executive functioning deficits, autism spectrum disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disability, or other disabilities, and adolescence can seem unbearable. Coaching can help in multiple ways. First, we identify goals, such as planning and organization skills, or better social skills, or managing anxiety. Are we focusing on next steps, maturity and launching into college or adulthoos? It could be managing HW at home or better peer relationships. Then we work through plans and strategies for each goal. We work on how our thinking influences our behavior, and make appropriate changes.
Coaching for young adults can address a wide variety of issues. Young adults are looking for help with college, living independently, personal living skills and careers. ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Nonverbal Learning Disability also make life more complicated and lead to needing support. Coaching can help you reconnect with yourself, your goals, and figure out how to get there. It can be short term, to achieve one goal or overcome one obstacle. It can be long term, to guide a life plan, work through ongoing issues and keep you on track. We will use communication skills, planning and organization skills, and life skills training to focus on your needs. Let’s work through that together.
Parents of teens and young adults who are struggling with organization, communication, and learning to become successful, independent adults can participate in a brand-new, 6 month group coaching program. Parents who are dealing with chaos, conflict, nagging and lack of structure will move towards mutual trust and respect, calm communication, clear organizational skills for home and school, and learn how to guide their teens into effective, independent adulthood. The program includes twice monthly group coaching sessions, a portal with dozens of videos and my not-yet-published e-book, called ‘Parenting A-Z’ and membership in a private Facebook group for mutual support.
